If you’re just short of the green, use the chip shot. With a chip, the idea is to get the ball onto the green as soon as possible and let it roll to the hole. The landing area for most chip shots is about three feet beyond the edge of the fringe. Select a club with more loft for a short chip, and one with less loft if you have a longer distance to the pin.
